Reasons I’ve moved to reading post comments once a week, and replying to only a select few:
1. Limit incoming information, avoid information overload, protect clarity of thought for daily demands.
2. Consider what others have written rather than commenting quickly for the sake of boosting profile views.
3. Enjoy the process of responding. Think carefully about word choice and the meaning they convey.
4. Resist the urge to people please, or conversely, create disharmony to seek being noticed. Neither feel good.
5. Practice being my age and knowing my place. My view isn’t the only one: remaining silent encourages others to speak.
6. Focus on writing well. Develop the skill, practice in public, deliver something meaningful. That’s the idea anyhow.
7. It’s an experiment. Something new to try. Probably to be superseded in due course.
