Guildford Lido

I managed a 1 mile swim at Guildford Lido this morning in 13 degree water without a wetsuit – the coldest yet I’ve trained in.

After suitable panic then a bit later an all over relaxed feeling, I started to believe that my goal of year round swimming outdoors might actually be possible.

It will be interesting to see what happens over the coming weeks as the temp drops a degree or two each week, and where it will eventually settle.

Ask any project manager about the key to their success, and they will say that delivering a project is often more like a "dark art" or by chance, than a predictable science.

They may also say that a project going 'off the rails' was one of the most stressful things they have professionally experienced. And unfortunately, it’s all too common.
