The end of a school year

It’s nearly the end of the school year and I’m sad to say today was my last day helping with the year 1 class.

I trimmed down my contracting to 4 days per week a few years ago so that I could broaden my experience and do some new things outside of business analysis without having to cram them in as hobbies in evenings and weekends – it’s worked really well.

I’ve done a mix of things on the 5th “free” day, from further psychotherapy training, volunteering with individuals who experience mental illness and also helping at the school. Here’s to a good 2019 summer holiday, and whatever may come next in this interesting journey of exploration.

Ask any project manager about the key to their success, and they will say that delivering a project is often more like a "dark art" or by chance, than a predictable science.

They may also say that a project going 'off the rails' was one of the most stressful things they have professionally experienced. And unfortunately, it’s all too common.
