Me: I’m leaving
They: What company are you going to?
Me: I’m not, I’m going to spend time at home and do the school run
They: [blank look]
They: I wish I could take time off between jobs, but I can’t relax unless I have something already lined up
Me: [thinks] You have spent 20 / 30 / 40 years working continuously, and you still don’t have enough faith in yourself to properly down tools for 1 / 2 / 4 weeks
I’ve experienced this same scenario at the end of every project recently.
